“Working to improve the hiring climate for people with intellectual disabilities in Nova Scotia”

The Employment 2007 Steering Committee was first formed in 2004 in preparation for Employment 2005, the first conference specifically targeting employment for people with intellectual disabilities in Nova Scotia.  The success of Employment 2005 was continued in March of 2007 with Employment 2007 and the group will soon start planning Employment 2009.  The work of the committee did not stop, however, at conference planning.  Over 2006-2007, the group has been responsible for a province-wide research project involving employers, the results of which can be viewed in the “Employers” section of this web site.  In addition, an extensive public awareness campaign in the fall of 2007 will take the committee’s goal to the province and beyond.
